Trigger has done it again

Hi guys!
I’m new here so please be gentle - and yes I’m female so if you tell me in idiot terms then we should be fine (and no I’m not blonde)

So, Trigger, he’s a 2002 Disco 2 TD5 (yes he’s a he because he causes more problems than I do)
My partner hitched a trailer up and plugged it in for the trailer lights. All worked fine while towing. He unhitched the trailer but the light still remained on the dash, when trying the indicators the light on the dash came on once then nothing, outside the vehicle nothing happened either. Same when he tried the hazards.
He says he’s checked the fuses and the relays? but he’s more of a spanner and hammer man so any ideas what is going on with the bloody thing now?!

Hoping someone who actually likes them may have the knowledge to sort the latest issue

Thanks for the reply! Haven’t had the vehicle long so it was one of those ‘what’s gone wrong now!’
Is it an easy fix? How?

Buy a new socket, remove the old one inspect the wires to not be chaffed and install the new one
