2014 V8 4.4 Transmission slipping

Hi everybody, last time I posted I had it in the wrong section, so hope have it right this time.

Slightly long story, but I’ll try not to get carried away with all the info.

I am looking for some diagnosis if possible before I go back to the repair garage.

I was experiencing a slight rumble when pulling away, I can only discribe to be like a chain slipping on a sprocket.

A local independent Landrover garage recomended I allow him to drain and replace all the fluid and replace the filters, (I’m sure most of you will know this is a costly job).

This didn’t alter anything, still had the rumble when pulling away.

After a few short local journeys I noticed the gear changes were not as smooth as as they were and was now slipping, plus when cold pulling away there was slipping and difficult to get rolling, I am now in a situation where I cannot use it as it will just sit still when I introduce revs, slipping like a goodun!

The garage have done everything they can to avoid having it back, on holiday, men off sick, to busy, etc etc, I am determined they have it back to sort it out and they have now given me a date in three weeks time to have it in there workshop, they won’t collect it so I have to make arrangements for a transporter to take it.

The garage says it’s deffinately not linked to anything they have done, I accept that may be true, but I don’t have a mechanical bone in my body and therefore will have no way of knowing if the garage is blowing smoke up my jacksey!

I would appreciate anybody’s opinion on this please.

Thanks in advance for your help boys

I think in this case the garage are right although changing the gearbox oil may have hastened the demise of the box & torque converter. sounds like to will be in for a reconditioned gearbox & torque converter.
Others with more knowledge of your car will be along.

Just a couple of questions. Not that I can actually help but it may be relevant when somebody that knows comes along.
Mileage?
Can you select R and move?
Do you have the flappy paddle if so can you select 2 and move?

a noise or feeling such as a chain slipping on a sprocket symptom doesnt appear to me to think about a g box oil change solution, more a shaft spline or half engaged t/box etc

Thanks for your reply, I was fearing something like this.

Hi
Mileage is 70k, I can get some movement forward and reverse but only a few feet, not tried the flappy paddle idea though, I will give that a go later.

It may be a worn spline/CV on the prop shaft that has now totally given up.
That may give a similar noise.
