Are the lt230 transfer boxes in all the same position regardless of engine/gearbox configuration in defenders/90's
Just doing some homework on what i need for a conversion from 200tdi to v8.

no, v8, 300 tdi and td5 have the t/box sitting about 50mm further forward than 200 tdi and other 4 cylinder engines
 
Thank you james. Thats sorted quite a few things out in my head.
The problem i have is i have bought a 90 that has a 200tdi galvanised chassis. I obviously dont want to start grinding or cutting the chassis for the conversion but still want everything in the right place as land rover would have done.

My intentions were to modify the brackets on the engine instead of the chassis bracketsis this possible?

If the transfer box needs to be moved forward i take it i will need to drill new holes unless chassis rails are universal with the holes pre-drilled/punched/lasercut?
 
Great, someone converting to a proper engine!
Now all I have to do is get my flack-vest & tin 'at on & prepare for the insults from derv-engine owners :rolleyes:
