Hi i've just fitted an electric winch to my ifor williams trailer using the propper ifor mount, I want to mount the battery on the trailer too, I had it on my classic trailer.

My prob is the best place for the battery is under the winch but two things i'm worried about, one drilling holes in the A frame and two the extra weight on the A frame as i've already got the extra weight of the winch.

My idear was to cover the A frame with from the back of the hitch right up tp the front of the bed so I had a nice flat area to mount to and also look neat and tidy.

Your thoughts please.

I wouldnt drill it. Use U bolts then you won't risk weakening it.
As regards the extra weight, bit of extra weight on the hitch will make it more stable at speed providing it's not so much it tries to lift your front wheels up

Dont think i'll get u bolts to round it and I think it would be a bit over the top and look a bit ugly, the A frame is c shaped ' [ ' channel so I could clamp it n the inside edge .

I think the only thing the weight will do is make it harder to unhitch the trailer empty without using the jockey wheel.

No problem drilling the a frame thats what you do to fit part of the stabiliser on a caravan just dont drill holes too close to one another and sandwich a plate on the inside and outside.

How about an anderson connector??

One end on the winch, and the other under the rear bumper etc???

I am thinking about doing that when I hopefully find a good disco 2 that i know i'm going to keep, but still handy to have a battery already on it incase someone else wants to borrow it.
