83?? Defenders weren't made till 1990 mate. And 90s and 110s 1984. Yours would be a Series III 109.

Where are you?

Nope it's definatley a 110 Defender, registered in 1983.. I have the original type log book as well.. all the mot's have 110 Defender on them as well. It's an A reg, and the number plate is the origanal one from first registration..

If its before 1990 its not a Defender. It may be a 110,but its definitely not a Defender. If you listen you will learn alot here,I have.

OK then..I can only go on what I read on the vehicle and what I am told. Why is it badged as such? would it be down to the previous keeper or purely just known by the wrong name? I will add a photo of it in all it's battered glory, for everyones viewing pleasure.
Thanks for your information though. Does this mean a Defender tow bar would not fit then?

Probably a previous owner put Def badges on.Some people think a new model is always better.Photo would be good.AFAIK the tow bars are the same.

Yep but that one I linked is a late 1983 car. In any case, it was the Ninety that was released after the One Ten. The One Ten was released in 1983 but the Ninety wasn't until 1984. On the Haynes workshop manual it even says "Suitable for vehicles 1983 - 2007".

Ahem, read the thread chaps - I wasn't recommending he buy it - the man only wants a tow ball!:doh: I was just giving an example of a 1983 One Ten.

A tow balls not much use on its own now is it.

I think we are being very helpful.

The unsavoury character that pikied the OP's one obviously thinks it is. :p

@ OP - there are plenty of tow balls on eBay, I'm pretty sure that one from a newer vehicle will still fit your early 110.
