Hi there I’ve had a discovery td5 for a little while now and would just like to maybe help some people out if I can

basically at the weekend after finding myself in a puddle up to the windscreen at korc the truck developed a misfire I stopped it restarted it ran fine no misfire but wouldn’t rev past 2500rpm just complete shutdown and have to wait 10-20 seconds before would restart

my truck on the scanner was showing two fault codes

after some googling and phone calls to ecu repairers I was hearing that it’s “a doorstop new ecu needed”

so I decided to pull it to pieces I found the pcb on the ecu to have a fracture in the green insulation exposing copper I’ll try to attach a photo and crusty white stuff like what you would find on a aa battery that’s gone bad

I cleaned this gently and blew the ecu out with an air line plugged it back in

and hey presto no codes and and revs freely no cutting out
Now just to seal it all back up and spend ecu pennies on other things

Its the solder resist come oft. Coat it with something to seal it and it will be ok. Varnish will work.

I’m thinking of sealing the breather holes in the covers and putting inside a plastic bag
Does anyone know if this will cause condensation issues inside the ecu ?
