1. Id like to find out how to do the timing on the TD5 Engine
2. I replaced a piston and rings aswell as the conrod bearings. The vehicle cranks quite ok but wont just start. No smoke from the exhaust even.
Will appreciate the help.
Thanks

Sorry I cannot help but it may be worth investing in a work shop manual. Sorry that doesn't help you at the moment but it is always a good investment. It is probable the timeing if I am wrong I'm shore some one will come up with some thing
Hope you get it running soon nothing more frustrating than doing a lode of work and it will not start
All the best Terry

If you have had the head off did you time engine and cam up first and tie chain to cam sprocket ?
If all above was done timeing should be correct
The valves / cam followers will take a while to pump up / fill with oil then they can open etc.and it should start then
Hope this helps

Timing pin through top into cam slot then look through bell housing wade hole for flywheel slot like on a 300 Tdi
Td5 needs a good crank to purge and run it'll need plenty of cranking
Why did it need a piston?
Did you put fuel system into bleed/purge mode?

Turn ignition on press acel pedal several times in quick succession this will run pump to bleed purge fuel system do till pump runs relatively quite then try and start 😃
