Disco 2 Three amigos and which diagnostic

I have the three amigos up on the dash board clocks. and i looking into a diagnostic equipment for my faults on my discovery. Has anyone used the bearmach?

Long story short it failed mot on not having abs come on and go off

Paid a man to come and play with diagnostic and clear faults and he found the abs responsive but no warning lights came up for him. So he said dash is broken. I went for a drive and no codes came up.

I purchase 2nd hand clock and i have three amigos on and lights warning sounds and mileometer is flashing.. so i am looking for a fault code reader which will help with engine and other discovery faults.

The hawkeye Total , as you listed is a new system / version.
There are other diagnostics units available , including nanocom, Lynx, Testbook,

The hawkeye Total as said is a newer version, which states it is unlocked for "all" landrovers up to 2014 or something like that, but on some of the other vehicles dongles would be needed.

If you do a search on here , you will be bombarded with information. I personally have a nanocom, but it only works on D2's for the body etc, and only on the TD5 engine, which I got when there was a group buy discount. nice bit of kit.

If I was you I would call Bearmach directly and ask them if it will do what you want. You will find there is a lot of bias one way or the other in either owners camp. If I was to buy again, I would probably confirm if the Hawkeye Total would do what I needed and only if it did, I would probably buy that.

BTW, the flashing odometer is because the BCU and the instument panel have different mileages on them, they can either be calibrated or the "flashing alarm" can be turned off. But be careful if they are calibrated, as you will probably end up with the higher mileage showing whether it is right or wrong.

The other option you have is to search and see if anyone local has a system to look at it , normal currency on here is cake........

Like @neilly, I too use the Nanocom Evolution.
Pricewise, with the exception of Testbook they're all about much of a muchness, around 250 to 300 quid new.

Unfortunately that man didnt have the proper tool nor knowledge for that... in case his tool was dedicated and you have 3 amigos without any fault code the first suspect is the ECU rather than the instrument pack but wait for your dedicated tester which ever it'll be and we'll see then

The mate I normally go to for diagnostics operates on a currency of Thatchers Gold. I need to go and visit him this week in the hope of trying to get it fixed for our trip in May!

(slightly frustratingly i'll be driving through Oxfordshire on Tuesday evening so you could have had the opportunity to earn cake... was about to message you but then I realised I wouldn't be driving the disco!!)

The hawkeye total will do what you need it to do but as said their are other diagnostics for the Land Rover group
You could probably put the old clocks back in and get the issue sorted and then you will have correct mileage to
Whereabouts are you as maybe someone nearby could help with diagnostic

It is strange how the abs system was tested and the pump worked. but no lights on the old instruments.
the warning sounds that indicated the lights on didn't sound either

i didnt understand from your first thread what you say now that there were no 3 amigos on cos you said that , maybe due to my english corroborated with the thread's title... if it's so the instrument pack was at fault without doubts...or it's not at fault just the warnings blanked with black tape and the speaker cut to hide and ECU fault

I don't know. original instruments went to mot with 207000 miles on clock with no lights on.
took instrument out to change bulbs millage went back to 127000 but no lights
man checks ecu and 8 codes pop up. the codes are cleared and a quick drive later the ecu is flashed no codes pop up.

so i order a 2nd hand instrument clock is ordered and the new instrument is showing the three amigos and mileage is flashing.
is it the instrument that stores this information?

Are you sure one is not in KM and the other in Miles???

Sorry your description is too cryptic for me...i'm totally confused about what's what there... what i can tell you is that the mileage is stored in two places, instrument pack and BCU

Yes i'm sure as that was on the original instruments. 207000 for the mot but did revert somehow back to the original 127000

Maybe someone pressed the button to change it on the dash.

Probably has been accidentally changed. 207000km is 128624 miles. To toggle between miles and Km, press and hold the button which is used to reset the trip odometer until the display changes.

A friend of mine read and reset all the ABS / SLABS codes in my Disco 2 yesterday using the handheld iCarSoft which you can purchase for about £150. He said that it does the entire Land Rover range.

Did the reading give a result that means anything? I know icarsoft do work for somethings, just wondering how it worked for yours? Did ti tell you where the problem was?
