Evenin' all. Hope all is well.

Edit. 300tdi disco

I was just coming down the a14 when I started to smell burning rubber. Then I noticed white smoke pouring out my exhaust. I pulled over straight away. Any idea's what the problem could be? There was a lot of smoke. Temps normal, oil levels fine.

Thick white smoke with horrible burning rubber/plastic smell.

I've got recovery but just wanted to see what the problem is before I commit to ringing them.

Cheers

Haha, cheers. I'm working down here atm and camping on the job so got my gas cooker. Brews up.

To add. After being sat here for the last 20 mins, there is already a good puddle of oil on the ground. Looks like a seal has gone. Hard to tell in low light but looks to be coming from gearbox/engine seal or above sump. As I say, cant see very well.

No more than usual Martin. There is oil there but looks the same as before. All from the breather.

1 hour till recovery. I was outside a truck depot so I pulled in and ther over night workshop crew had a look. There is a lot of oil coming out of the side of the engine. Underneath the fuel lift pump. Not sure what the component is.

Smoke smells of rubber. Only way I can describe it. If it wasn't coming out of the exhaust, I would say something between brakes and a tyre were on fire.

sounds like burning oil , underneath lift pump is a oil return and oil cooler pipes, vac pumps to the rear , does it drip oil if engines running , does it breath heavy with filler cap off
