Eldest is now fully qualified at a main stealers and is allowed to use the facilities after work on a Saturday for his own motors (as long as he don't take the ****).
Did all the brake pads on the P38 yeaterday. From driving on the ramps to driving off took 25 mins. Wheels off by air gun in seconds, working at the perfect height, tool to suck out the excess brake fluid. DIY heaven.
He didn't look so pleased when I told him all the stuff I've got lined up for the Classic:)

Isn't that cheating - he says having spent last Sunday doing the same job on the drive. My bum still hurts and I haven't got my hands properly clean since.

I feel your pain mate. And it might be cheating but I have to say I think I'll cheat every time from now on :D Even had those rubber gloves on tap, so didn't even get dirty finger nails.

i do all my work on the floor and its a piece of cake if you have decent tools and jacks etc.....one of the best tools i have bought is the snap-on 1/2"drive cordless impact gun, blows all of the makita/metabo etc ones out of the water! battery lasts ages it'll undo normally tough bolts and nuts(like the 30mm radius arm and trailing arm nuts) like you wouldn't believe!well worth every penny i paid for it

They are indeed a fine tool G=man, recently renewed the springs and shocks on the Classic with one, made the job a whole lot easier. But there is nothing like being able to work at just the right height at the touch of a button.

aye i spent years in a garage doing it, 2, 3 and 4 post ramps all the workshop equipment i could need... all owned by someone else.... now the only things i don't have are the workshop, a ramp, a bench grinder and a press the latter two are next in the pipeline on the big tools list of things to buy......... the former two may happen at some point
