Went for a test drive today in the new Velar - really deflated after all the hype! Although the car drove ok it could have had any badge on the front. Has anyone seen one on the road yet and got any thoughts on the vehicle. My verdict is it's a pounced up ejoke!

Seen one on the road, I was a bit disappointed, guess it looked too familiar, as in all the latest models share same styling quirks, need to save for rrs I guess!

Seen a couple, LR dealer just down the road, no denying from the outside it's from the current:Landrover family ... but don't think I'll bother with even a test drive!

I've not seen one yet, I don't think. I'd probably have a job telling the difference between it and an ejoke anyway. It would appear that LR have just one set of body panels and they just put different badges on them.
Looks just like A.N.Other from the current flock of SUVs from, well it doesn't really matter who.
It'll probably be OK for Sloane Street school run.

The same is true of all cars these days every manufacturer has a car that is almost exactly the same as all other cars from that given segment of the market. The days are gone where you go with Land Rover for off-road, Mini for a cute city car, Mercedes for executive saloon etc.. every brand has something to fit every market segment these days I mean Mini even has an SUV how sick is that..:mad:the only reason to choose a certain brand Now days is brand loyalty.:(

That's why I prefer older vehicles.

the velar we initially put a deposit on is more expensive than the RRS, which is my point exactly! I feel that most people on here are true Land Rover enthusiast - warts and all - my thinking is the LR have lost site of this as they don't have a vehicle in production now that will create a future site like this. I definitely class myself as brand loyal so will get another RRS but this new generation is not for me - ejoke, velar and god only knows what happened to the new Discovery tail end!! pity

i'm really looking forward to the new defender , hopefully it will stand out from the rest , but won't hold my breath

number plate on the D5 does seem an afterthought, still prefer the look of the older D4 ,

prefer the house brick design ;)

Think land rover have really got to get this one right, i consider the defender to be Land Rover , if that makes sense

from its creation in 1948 and how it's developed into an icon around the world

don't know how near the production one will be to the DC100 , they have to know the enthusiasm that awaits its launch and god help them if they get it wrong

believe it's aug 2018 that it's launched ??????

not defending LR but what a weight the design team have to consider! not only must the new Defender be useful and compliant but also please us eager lot! lol

It's all down to vehicle efficiency. Reduce airflow drag over the bodywork.
Unfortunately, wind tunnels are no respecter of vehicle make or marque.
The Series, Defender and other earlier models had character but all the aerodynamics of a house brick.

they do indeed have a massive challenge , assume that's why it's taking so long to be launched , of course testing etc

maybe if the body was of a similar design , comfortable and quiet cabin, option of an auto , assume it will incorporate the traction response systems, hi/low and diff locks , etc

at the end of the day i can't see it being under 50k

..... and that's another problem - the price! lets face it the defender was way over priced for what you actually got! yes we all love them but they should be £20k new not £50 - but I bet your correct with the guesstimate!
