"With some 70% of Land Rovers ever built still around'' where do people get these ridiculous figures from?

Are they talking about land rovers as in series/90/110/defender or all land rovers including freelander disco etc.

We keep being told "The famous 4x4's fate was sealed by European laws on safety and emissions" Not sure I believe it, Jeep continue to produce the wrangler which has an even longer history than the Defender. Merc' are still making the G Waggon which has a similar design. I'm sure if JLR wanted to they could do a re-engineering job to make it acceptable to the latest regulations. It's been done before the Defender was a massive change from the S111 which apart from the overall look changed just about everything. I suspect the truth is that JLR don't want to make utility vehicles any more, they want to make expensive up market motors that most Defender lovers can't afford and don't really want.
