After this monsoon type rain my 86 defender 90 has decided it now want to be a sieve. Passesnger seat is fine as previous owner filled the front part of gutter with sealant. I went out this afternoon to find a small pond in the drivers foot well. The drip from usual place windscreen puller about an inch back on the roof gutter join. I've scrapped out old sealant and redone it with more sealant! Hoping this does the job otherwise will have to seal the inside aswell as re doing the seal.

Pretty sure a lot of that water comes in from the pedals. Run your finger down the back of the pedals and see if it's wet.

One evening after working on mine I left a tub of nuts and bolts in the footwell. It rained overnight, in the morning there was the usual damp floor, but the tub was full to the rim with water. I was surprised just how much water must drain through it and back out again when it rains.

There are some holes on the pedal box that let water run down the bulkhead and into the footwell. I solved mine by simply gaffer taping over the holes. Two years later and still no water into the driver footwell.

What tape you using? :D

Whilst excess water can be annoying (constant whinging eminating from the region of the passenger seat ) be careful not to compromise the function of the water cooled rear-view mirror.....

I had to wear a jacket in my car the other day as so much H20 was entering, jesus thought there was a rain cloud on my windscreen at one point !!!

I got bored of the leaks so I filled my spray gun with ankor wax and when I had finished the chassis I sprayed the roof (its a 1985 90 so the rook is not exactly white anymore!) and that helped alot but I do realise that some peeps have newer landys and probably care more what they look like!

You could expect if for a 27 year old vehicle, but a brand new one, it's a disgrace
