Treated my Disco 1 to a full set of shocks plus steering damper after reading various reviews on here and talking to mates etc, put them on just before the snow started in December.

All was well until I had a problem with the O/S/R shock last week, so I called Allmakes 4x4 and spoke to Ed.

Anyway to cut a long story short - two new rear shocks just arrived at my door yesterday.

I guess anything can have a problem but the real service comes with how it is sorted out.

A big gold star to Allmakes for being so helpful and quick to sort the problem. I am very impressed and would recommend Tirrafirma shocks
to one and all.

Yeah, tell us what went wrong...............I just fitted a full +2" set to my Disco 2 today, have not driven it yet, but they look well made and pretty sturdy when compared to the factory shocks, they also confirmed how f***ed my originals were !!

after service i belive is more important than sales service, anyone can sell, not every one wants to look after there customers once they have purchaced there product/s

good to here some companys care for for the name of there product and at the end of the day word of mouth is the best seller

what was the problem?

Mine is a late model Disco 1 (1999 reg) which has metal cups spot welded to the lower mounting bracket. The bushes sit in these for the mounting point on the rear shocks.

I was advised to chisel off these cups before fitting the new shocks and was supplied with the standard large washers that earlier Disco's used to replace them but being clever I thought the bush supplied gave enough clearance between the metal cup and the top washer not to bother.

Looks like I was wrong as the complete bottom mounting stud broke off the bottom of the new shock.

Funnily enough, the two rear shocks I was upplied with were different. One had a much thicker bottom stud than the other and it was the thinner one that snapped off.

The thicker one has a nyloc nut which I did up with a 7/8th spanner and the thinner one was something like a 17mm. (poss 19mm cant remember now)

I think that Terrafirma did an upgrade during 2009 as the the one was marked 05/09 and the thicker one 08/09.

So, after speaking with Allmakes 4x4 they replaced both rear shocks without a problem and I was very impressed.

Cannot really comment regarding the earlier shocks not being up to the job as my fitting could well have been the cause (there is NO mention within the packaging regarding removal of the metal cups, just a note advising that the top mount washers must be the right way round, which I adhered to).

If you are just about to get a set of Terrafirma's, I would go for the newer one's though. As you can see in the photo they look far more robust.

Whatever the case, if my circumstances were anything to go by, If you experience a problem Allmakes certainly will help and very quickly too. Good people.
