Hi Again,

I've got a 1992 Deafener 110 CSW 200TDI 92K on the clock and just wanted to know what the normal position should be for temp Gauge Needle. Runs around a 1/4 way when around town, but heads up to 3/4 white/red split when climbing over M62? Is investing in a Kenlowe fan advisable or am I wasting my money?

Many thanks

Jonah

have had 3 differant landies and all have showed differant readings so not to be taken too seriously only if it does anything more than normal.
kenlow will save fuel a tad and get up to temp quicker but make sure you keep an eye on the control unit my old 87 90 it went up the swany and had to replace it (no indication just happened to notice it not coming on 1 day when left on idle for a long time)

Mine tends to be steady (half way) even when going over the M62 at my usual 55 to 60. But, coming back from Newark after a muddy weekend my temp gauge did rise significantly past 3/4 going over the top.
My rad was 30% covered in mud... a GENTLE pressure wash cleared it and it is now steady. Take a look through the front grill for mud....or maybe the rad need flushing?

Mine runs at a bit over half on a gentle drive and a litte close to the end of the white sometimes when doing say 50-60, but id say 20% of my rad fins have fallen off, i just havent got round to replacing it yet.

Thanks to all replies.

Will have a check of my radiator and take it from there. And perhaps slow down from 65 to 60mph!!!!

Its all engine dependent to. the TDIs run alot cooler than the TD or N/A. Half way is about the norm. Dont waste your time with a kenlowe, the viscous fan is more than capable.

I replaced my Rad/hoses and coolant on my 300 before going to Morocco and the temp was half way on the gauge. same position as -5 degrees in Wales over the new year :D

Probably worth you flushing the rad/system and using fresh coolant. You may notice the temp comes down a bit. Having a steering guard, spot lights and other obstructions on the front may also make a difference. 65mph should not be a prob for a TDI so i wouldnt worry about that.

:)Great answer above.....may I just add if rad.quite old & you use 'hard'water flush may not work....possible new rad. @ some point?:(:(
