I have been talking to a main dealer about part exchanging our freelander 2 for a 57 plate range rover with 18000 miles. The previous owner is ERAC uk which is enterprise rental.Has this been a hire car and if so should i walk away or does anyone have any experience of these cars please help!

A normal vehicle annual mileage is 15,000+ per year, hire companies usually look after their vehicles as they require reliability and generally most hire vehicles are sold on after a short time because of the mileage, its a possibility that this has been a lease vehicle with little use.

I wouldn't worry about a hire/lease vehicle of this class and mileage, provided that theres no sign of accident damage, you could always try to phone ERAC UK with the reg number and ask for a history outline.

Thanks a lot for the info i think if the vehicle in question is ok then it is fine. I will call ERAC and see if they have any further info. By the way there is another car same spec history and colour but with only 9000 miles ie half the the milage of the previous car. How much extra is the reduced milage worth? Any ideas thanks

Nothing wrong with buying an ex-hire/lease car. Chances are it's never been off road and has been regularly serviced and valeted (For what it's worth). Can't see a Disco/RR owner bombing along at 130mph or thrashing the arse off it.
