Alright chaps I posted this about 10 months ago but money is still to tight to get garage to fix so I'm gonna have a crack myself the original problem was the landrover tdi300 auto 97 was on motorway overheated lost most of the water. oil level right up but no white sludge any where I seen a thread on here how to strip it down so I started to dismantle it when I pulled the intercooler pipe off all inside is covered in oil and when I pulled of the air pipe off after the airflow metre that pipe was also saturated in oil any one shed any light on this I'm just at the point of taking the manifold off now cheers thanks for any help. Mick

have you drained sump ,was level of oil very high ? its normal for intercooler pipes to be wet with oil ,its the nature of turbos ,hard to say if its more than normal from here .drain block by undoing bung on lhs of block just in front of down pipe 13mm,dont be afraid of pulling it apart it wont really hurt if push rods etc dont go back in same order ,watch out for valve stem caps on top of valves they easily get lost though not manditory to refit

I can pay in unlimited tea and biscuits if any one wants the job lol

This is rapidly becoming my favourite rant.

***Fill in the profile section when asking for help so folk know where the frick you are. It's not difficult and don't take long***

That'll do...

drained oil and water today. when i did the the oil it looked like pure water coming at first then oil eventually came out just one more nut to remove on the manifold awkward one. wheres best place to get a head gasket from or will ebay do they got some cheap ones but i take it there not worth bothering with cheers guys.

If you're doing it you only want to do it once, I got a genuine Landy one that way you *know* it's good (and really not that much more moolah). I seem to remember there being different dot ratings, can't remember what they mean - it would be worth doing a search. Also you want to check a multitude of other stuff (the micro bore pipe that runs from the stat housing, header tank and rad) so when you put it back together it dun't blow again straight away...
