When I use intermittent wipe on my TD5 the wipers partly sweep the screen then stop in the upright position.I have to use the wiper switch in normal position to return wipers to park position.Both normal and fast speeds work fine and wipers park properly.Is it likely to be a fault with the stalk control or something more complicated like the BCU?
Any help would be much appreciated before I potentially waste lots of time or cash or both trying to fix the problem.Thanks.

Same thing is happening on my 300 Tdi, it's a nightmare, it ALWAYS stops in my field of view!
If I find out what the prob is ill letcha know

Any help would be much appreciated.I've been out today in the rain and not being able to use intermittent wipe is driving me nuts!
I spoke to an independent landrover garage yesterday who suggested it may well be the stalk switch.Is there any way I can check the stalk switch before buying a replacement?

Check ALL of your fuses, not just the ones for the wipers. There are generally two live feeds to the wiper motor;

1 Ignition sourced live through the wiper switch. This appears to be OK as the wipers are actually turning on and off.

2 Ignition sourced live to 'park' the wipers, this is normally controlled through a switch in the wiper motor. When the wipers are turned off mid-cycle this power source will send the wipers through the rest of the cycle to the park position. This is the one that is causing you problems.

If all of the fuses are OK, you need to access the wiper motor and check that there are two live feeds working (ignition and wiper switch on). If there is the problem is with the wiper motor. Old Lucas wiper motors used to have a plastic module attached to the wiper motor gearbox that you could swap.

Good luck

Thanks for that detailed reply.
I will make the checks you have outlined and hopefully I can sort it out.Probably cant get to work on the problem for a week or so but will let you know outcome.

It was a faulty wiper motor in the end.Cant repair the internal fault so had to get a second hand replacement motor.But its now installed and working so thanks to all who replied and offered advice.
Just a word of warning if you need to replace your td5 wiper motor.Swoping the motor and linkage was easy but removing and replacing the A pillar finishers and manipulating the scuttle trim panel below the screen to gain access was quite a challenge!!
