With the task of rebuild on our trusty 300 tdi looming (she’s just gone through mot ) we bought a high mileage 90 td5 pick up to use as our everyday car cos this will be first rebuild so the newer td5 as few issues thought we could address the minor ones such as the wipers not parking so ordered a new park switch so with the sun shining thought today’s the day but I couldn’t find anything on how to find it other than a guy with a 200 already stripped? (I know that there’s guys on here could do so much better knowledge and instructions wise ) so with that utube post not being any use I got my head out of my beano (sorry young uns might o lost u there) it’s what teacher used to say anyway took top dash off and side (grab handle) removed lower left dash quarter with speaker ay ho load wires and a park switch drop down ooh ffflip I thought someone been here that’s why So seeing cut wires and extended I thought bugger then noticed the old switch still in place on the motor (sorry no photos as I said there’s better guys on here that can show far better) so some smart txxxt has thought easy way out was to leave old switch in place cut and extend motor wires and place new switch in line resulting in same fault then obviously left it ? My heart sank thinking this is something beyond me so anyway well I’ll carry on removed both switches one on Motor and the in line one clipped new switch on motor made harder by the savage connectors been put on then the big switch on intermittent ok ? First and second speed ok ? Park ok ! Yes ! I’ve done it she says and now I know how to use wipers so what’s next
