Hi All
sorry if similar has been posted before... but i have fitted a new CHRA in my turbo today... i then wanted to test that my wastegate actuator was actually working... below is what i did.

i used my push bike front fork pump which has a gauge on it (PSI / Bar).. i disconnected the actuated air feed hose from turbo outlet pipe, attached the pump and basically pumped it up to see at what pressure the wastegate cracked open and at what pressure it was fully open. see setup below

results were...
cracked open at 1.0bar
fully open at 2.0bar
left it under pressure to check for decay/damaged... held pressure so all looks good, and functions pretty smoothly..

as its difficult not to play with these things i then shortened the actuator rod, which increases preload on the actuator spring, which means a greater manifold pressure will now be required before the wastegate cracks open.

1.5/2 turns increased pressures to:
cracked open at 1.25bar
fully open 2.25bar.
so manifold will now run with a little more pressure..:)... no idea how much difference this will make to perfromance.... and as my landy is in bits, it will be a while before i test it... might fit a permament boost gauge.. has anyone done this?
