td5 starting problem

i'm hoping you can help i have a 99 td5 disco auto and i've just gone to start it and i've got the warning lights for the auto gearbox flashing beeping and the starter won't engage, i've put jump leads on but still nothing so i shorted the starter out it started then cut out and wouldn't start then like's there's no fuel! any ideas?:doh: just been put again and i have no hazards or indicators either!!

It could be a dodgy earth from the battery to the chassis/engine/ECU.
If it cranks on the key then clean the ECU main earth connection in the cubby box under the drivers seat.
If you can hear the starter solenoid clicking but it wont crank then clean the main earth (negative) cable connection to the engine.
Do your main beam lights come on brightly? If not check the earth connection from the batt to the chassis.

In fact just clean all of the main earthing points and then you can rule them out.
