Hi, I'm new to this and now I find myself in a bit of a dilemma. I had my Td5 remapped 2 years ago with 165bhp. 9 months ago it developed a sluggish underpowered problems if its lost its remap. Sometimes its starts on the button and there are times it takes forever. I was told injectors so I replaced them all {black top} including original injector seals and the problem still there. It sat dormant for 6months until I decided to have engine fully rebuilt along with gearbox and transfer box. While I was sure this would fix the problem I decided on upgraded hybrid turbo, stainless exhaust system incl manifold, intercooler, silicone hoses everywhere, the list goes on. I should of been running 400bhp. Completed and fitted 3 days ago I got really excited 2 have it back on the road and guess what? yes the problem is still there. At 2k revs a load of white smoke fills the street I live on which tell me unburnt fuel. I had heart attack 3weeks ago and at this rate I'll b having another lol. I have now run out of funds and cant find any link that helps my particular problem..... Please can anyone out there give me advice

Whi have you had do your remap to give you the upgrade to 400 ponies?

Cheers
no not mapped 2 400bhp. remap took it to 165bhp... head work done, intercooler quoted 80bhp and same as hybrid turbo, 12 from exhaust 20 head work and K&N airfilter fitted

Not sure it works that way, suggest you get it on diagnostics to see if anything comes up, Shirley, You still need to have the engine map to get the best out of the add ons .

I thought blacktop injectors also needed the engine to be recoded.

Cheers

Also, have you spoken to anyone about getting 400 ponies out of a td5 and not having it go bang, sounds very optimistic.
I would suggest you get hold of one of the known tuning specialists for the td5 rather than bolt stuff on and hope you get a bit extra from it.

if you post iin the defender section a few of those with breathed on td5s may come and give you a few words of wisdom.
Cheers

I will look into it again but like I said the problem was exactly the same before I changed the injectors. injectors never changed a thing

Crap starting and general sluggishness could be unrelated.

Plenty it could be on a td5, none of which would be sorted with an engine rebuild.

Battery
Dodgy earth/chafed wiring
Starter motor
Crank position sensor
Starter arcing and interfering with CPS signal
Glow plugs
Glow plug relay/wiring
Injector loom
Injector seals (I know they've been done..)
Fuel filter
Fuel filter housing or it's internal bits
Fuel pump
Fuel pressure regulator
MAP sensor, wouldn't affect starting though ime, definitely sluggishness
MAF sensor as above

Coolant and fuel temp sensors, though I don't think they would stop it starting, only the CPS will kill a td5. May be wrong.

Plenty to investigate, all stuff that wouldn't be covered with the rebuild apart from injector seals and injectors.

Cracked head?

New glow, plugs starter motor, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, crank position sensor, fuel filter and return valve, temp sensors all replaced, injector loom, earth cables were all new...... ok I wil start with MAP MAF senors then ill book into injectors reprogamming. JTR Engines in Poole built engine and pressure tested the head. AL Services remapped ecu. I'll look ito the rest thanks

400 isnt possible from a td5.

Based on your mods youll be touching 200 if that.

Could be glow plugs, where they changed on the rebuild?

The injectors should be coded regardless from my understanding.

Who mapped it?
AL services remapped and JTR Engines built engine. ill get coding done thanks
