I have a 54 plate TD5 Disco. On these late models the coolant pipe from the oil cooler has been blanked off with a little rubber plug that looks like the end of a walking stick. Part number PYB500040 - cost £36 + VAT. Has anyone any experience of a successful alternative to this please? I am loathe to pay so much for a tiny piece of rubber, but appreciate it is vital that whatever is used is able to withstand the temperatures.

Many thanks

Well,

Noticed a little bit of coolant under mine and checked to find the blank had definitely seen better days.

Cut it off and fitted a silicone replacement.

Cheers

HI Eddyoz. How did your silicon repair turn out? I've found these but would like to know.
1. Did you put a blanking cap in the tube before putting a silcon cover over the pipe.
2. when you refere to 20mm are you refering to the internal diameter of the pipe (for the bungs) or the outer diameter (for the cap)
Cheers mate for a great suggestion.

UPDATE: THE INTERNAL DIAMETER IS 15MM PLUS/MINUS 1 OR.2. DEFINATELY NOT 15.5 MINE WAS 15.1
THE EXTERNAL DIAMETER OF THE PIPE IS 20MM.
