Hi guys, has anybody had any experience putting a 15/16p head/engine in a 10p car?
This is what I have in mine and I'm after some advise.
The car is running the early injectors and rocker shaft and down on power.
I need to know if the black injectors are actually compatible with the later head without causing issues?
Also I don't know what camshaft is fitted and if the early and later lobes have a different lift for the injector rockers?
There must be plenty of these conversions done in the past due to the failure rates of the 10p lump.
Cheers

We had a thread before talking about the differences in cams. It seemed at the end, that the only difference was the part number from early to late models.
If you have the rocker cover off and rotate the cam, you will see the part number etched on the front end, looking straight down. Quite hard to see but in the correct light, you will. The early one starts ERR, the later one, LGC.

There's nothing stopping your black injectors from working in a later head, as far as I know. Can you scan the ECU for injector codes and see if they are correct? But, if the engine was previously running ok, this should not be your problem.

Your ECU will probably be early and if the cams are not different then there should be nothing else to worry about. You obviously also have the later fuel pressure regulator head to provide the extra fuel return hose from above the alternator back to the FPR.

The only other difference is the rocker seal.

If you're down on power, has the timing been fidled with? Maybe a turbo problem? A leak in the intercooler hose?

Will bear that in mind.
If you check out my first post you can see that I have gone through about every option that I can think of. Any suggestions welcome of what I could have missed!
The car has been like it since I've had it.

I was under the impression that the green top injector works at a much higher pressure which enables the engine to meet the later emission standards.
There are two different rocker arms and I may be wrong but I think you are supposed to keep the injectors and rockers as a set.
I had some questions on the cam shaft recently and I think the cam shafts are interchangeable.
There are some details in the rave manual.

Yep still got the older eu2 rocker shaft as well. I'm a bit concerned about this...

I wouldn't believe that. Not saying it's all wrong but I don't believe you get a loss of 60% performance. You wouldn't get over 40mph like that.
There would have been a separate issue for such a loss of power, I think. Or injector clearances not set properly.

If you're still concerned, you have two choices - get a 10p head back on it or get a 15p engine and ECU.
My guess is that a 10p head won't improve your power loss.
A 15p engine may bring its own problems if used.

Injector clearances are good. Don't really want to go back to a 10p head do to the cracking issues. You're right its not down 60%, it's just not right.
I think the throttle pedal is more to do with a 3 track req for a later ecu.

Hi guys, long time no speak!
So after hitting a brick wall and living with this lack of power, I finally got my hands on a like for like, known good model! Wait for it... It's exactly the same!
So I have been chasing a non existant fault, what a cock!
Luckily I haven't thrown any parts at it!
Thought I would update as there is nothing worse than a thread trailing off without a resolution.
Sorry for wasting your time!
Cheers,
Zacc
