TD5 head gasket change

Hi all , I am just in the process of changing my head gasket again. Question , when I did it the first time it had plastic dowels in which I changed for steel dowels , now I think I was told that some TD5 engines need to have the plastic ones fitted and some can have the steel ones fitted , am I right in thinking this ? Mines a 16p engine 2002. Also if mine should have the steel ones can I reuse the old ones ?

They can all have metal dowels fitted. There is a LR service bulletin that says you shouldn’t, however ignore it.
