Why are extension ECU looms so expensive? Not having a dig, but just struggling to understand why a relatively small piece of loom cost so much. If the same pricing structure was applied to a rear wiring harness, for example, you would need a mortgage to re-wire a Series.

Because they use about 65 wires which, if done properly are different gauges, different colour codes, have twisted pair screened sensor wires and take an age to make. A series loom uses about 6 wires.
