Disco 2 Td5 clutch

Hello all , my clutch is feeling it's getting on in life . Pedal getting high and juddering when pulling away but no slipping . But also the DMF is clunking a bit more as letting clutch off .

So time to change the clutch soon, I have ordered a powerspec kit from LOF . I replaced the slave 9 months ago also .

I hear its a bit of a pig to do on hard standing as can not get up high like on a lift .

Any tips be appreciated. Yes I could remove the transfer case but been told it's a pig to get lined up . I do have a hydraulic lifting trolley that folds down to 20cm at lowest height and make a frame from there to pull off in one go . Or am I thinking doing a hard way ?

I have watched it and all well if on a lift above your head . Different kettle of fish on the ground .

Done clutches both on a lift and on the driveway.

I did it on mine about 2 years ago following the above video. I did it in my garage, lifted the car about 20cm and laying on my back. Not nice but doable

2nd time when I removed only the tbox (for renewal) I used special transmission jack which made the removal and refitting of box much easier.

" in my garage", wish I could do that. Cannot get Discos in, too high, even without a 2" lift (one of them) so have to do everything on a gravel drive which even when swept makes using jacks etc tricky to say the least. Have to boards down everywhere which then limits even further the space underneath.

I done mine on the drive. It is concrete though. Why don’t you slide a sheet of 18mm ply under it for your jacks to run on.??
I used two trolly jacks. One on the gearbox and other on the transfer box. Remember and disconnect the Crank Sensor wiring !!!

It's either engine out or gearbox out but an engine crane will make things much easier. The gearbox + T-box weigh around 100kg and unless you have help, it's no fun at all doing it without a vehicle lift. A few resources for you that might help -

I have used such devices which makes easier the removal of boxes, but still not an easy job to do it laying on your back:-(
If it is not too expensive have it done by a mechanic. (the other tool next to the tbox adapter is the spigot bush removal tool

)
