Hi all i recently changed fluid in my auto box and now it is playin up wont select 1st at all and reverse unless you select low and is grinding in gears have checked there is the right amount of atf in have checked the xyz switch any suggestions appreciated

what was old oil like,grinding if from the auto box is unusual but not unheard of if an epicyclic hub is breaking up,
First of all my front diff went so while i was changing that i thought i would change the tranny fluid all was well before but ever since it hasnt been the best selecting gears and reverse is playing up i have to put it in low in order to select reverse and 1st wont shoe up on the dash when i select reverse the m s lights flash

did you fill oil to level with engine running
Yes with engine started running throught the gears ontil it weeps out the filler plug oil that came out wasnt the best tbh but before the oil change the gearbox was fine

are you sure there are no other reasons for no drive ie t/box
It will select drive perfect then when i put it in reverse it wont grab so if i put it in low it nocks into reverse then the m s lights flash also struggles to change gear in low but fine in high

sounds like box needs to come out
Thanks for reply just curious that the gear change was fine ontil i put fresh fluid in and there is enough so the fresh fluid has caused the problem

new oil is very detergent
So do you think new gearbox is in order or will filter be blocked up?

you could explain that better if you want conformation
Sorry my head is exploding with it with tbox in high it wont select reverse just revs as if in neutrel but when tbox in low it will engage reverse and drive but then the m s lights flash causing limp mode anytime reverse is selected

does it feel its slipping in low,presumably oil was blackish
Yes it struggles to change gear in low and oil wasnt the best tbh

i meant in reverse ,but it does sound like a box needs attention
