good afternoon all,
i have had a few problems with the old girl and the battery charging,
I'm sure the alternator isn't charging the battery,
i have put a new battery on the car and there's a weak charge coming into the battery, the battery light on the dash doesn't come on at all even when i turn the key??
how difficult is it to change the Alternator on a disco td5?
looking at it from the top do i have to remove al the manifold or can these be changes without stripping out the manifold?
is there away of getting it out the bottom?

It's not that bad >

its actually really not that hard.

1)remove viscous fan
2)take off the aux belt
3) take the wires/hoses off.
4) 2 big bolts hold it on!

done mine recently and all i changed was the brushes! £40 later i was back on my way! remember you will need a few new copper washes for when you re-install it and just check your brake fluid level afterwards as you do spill abit.

Hi, i've had my alternator changed today but now the garage are telling me it wont start and they think it is because of the immobiliser, is this correct.?

:amen: +1 for that ^^^^ ...though if they are such schmucks i think that while the alternator was fubar'd maybe the battery has not enough guts to start it...

other hint: when the immobiliser is active the red led on dash is on while the ignition is on and it doesnt crank at all.
