I have a 2003 TD5 and the rear ACE pipes have just corroded on me! Does anyone know which part number would be the correct ones to buy as the ones I have just bought from a Landrover specialist have turned out to be incorrect. I gave my VIN number, but what I've got doesn't look like the ones that are currently on my Disco! :doh:

Yes there is a difference between rear pipes on 2003 models .... the difference beginnes at VIN 3A812792 ... the safe mode is to use Microcat to find the correct part number.
The pipes that were ordered in for me were from Britpart and are coded RQB000370 and 380, but I suspect (having looked at some on eBay!) that it should be RQB000390 & 400. I can't believe that they have made 6 different ones!!
I have found the Microcat for Landrover and nearly had heart failure at how long it takes to download!!! Any other quicker ideas (I'm a woman you know and have no patience!!)?

Bear in mind the repair pipes come in 2 halves to allow fitment as the original 1 piece ones were fitted to the chassis before the body went on.
Its frustrating that they eventually uses threaded unions on the repair pipes, should have done that from day one instead of that stupid way they come up with to fit/ seal them to the valve block.
Quite rare to be corroded through on an 03 plate, you live near the coast by any chance ?

If you are on coil springs, you will notice very little difference in driving quality of you remove the ACE completely (and fit the "normal" anti-roll bars, and the aux belt jockey wheel)...
Thanks for the suggestion MartinK, I did think of this, but my husband ruled against it and said for the cost involved he'd prefer to replace the pipes!

The last 2 winters have been horrific here too, with several weeks of snow and bad ice and the gritters are out constantly doing the roads. Perhaps that has also had an effect on the car, as it is impossible in -17 degrees to hose it off each week to keep the salt down!

Mine corroded though on an 02 plate about a year ago - same age as yours. And the car had been waxoyled (but had done ~160000 miles). I had also suffered with the ACE light glowing amber (an upper accelerometer intermittant failure).
If one pipe has gone, you will probably find the other's are not far behind (sorry to be a killjoy!).
Mine went behind the drivers front wheelarch where the pipes all congregate into the actuator unit - common issue...

The last few winters have done massive amounts of damage to ALL cars,and people who thought DII's were better rust wise than D1's may now be having second thoughts.If it is only a small section of ACE pipe that has failed I tend to buy the cheapest pipe and use 10mm compression fittings to join them after cutting to length.
There are plenty of DII's and P38's running around with rusty front to rear brake pipes too.

Hi can anyone out there look under there disco 2 1999 to 04 with ace and tell me which way round the pipes are . Took mine off cos they were leaking and got replacements made from braided stst .But lost the markings on the old pipes .There are 2 pipes coming out the back of the control unit and I need to know which one goes onto which end of the ram .
Cheers fella sorted now thanks to Birmingham 4x4 . No thanks to land rover uk who refused to help . I have replaced my rusty leaking rear ace pipes with stst braided ones at a third of the price of the genuine LR s and they don't rust either . Cheers again and good luck with the sun roof seal . I did one of those 5 years ago and sicoflexed it in place . It's been good since .
