I've been looking for a reason why my TD4 boost is a bit random and cutting out early. One possible cause is the boost control solenoid. As far as I can see the part number for it is STC4198, I've been checking around and found there are a load available from Eastern Europe eg.

I suspect they are cheapo copies manufactured somewhere locally but haven't seen any negative feedback for them. Has anyone here tried them?

Mind having checked further, the main problem caused by this solenoid seems to be over boost causing the ECU to cut the fuel supply to protect itself. I guess I could try removing the hose from the solenoid to the turbo to see how it changes things. I'll try that over the hols and report back.

Thanks Arctic
I'd seen that one too but wouldn't be surprised if it came from the same source. Having said that Island 4x4 are a well known reputable supplier so would be a good choice if it weren't for the ludicrous shipping cost to NI of £16. I refuse on principle to pay that sort of money for something that should cost two or three quid.

I hate over priced shipping. Luckily it doesn't affect me. But my sister on the Scilly's gets ripped off. Even though they has a daily postal service out to the islands.

I've had it out with suppliers before. They enter into an arrangement with a courier with cheap prices to the easy got at areas of the UK then over charge for anywhere else. Sometimes if you hassle them enough they'll use Royal Mail but mostly they refuse so now I don't bother even asking. If they don't want my business I go else where.

i have said this time and time again there is no more cost shipping it to Northern Ireland as there is in posting it to England Scotland and Wales southern Ireland yes there is an increase but not that much. I have in fact just emailed them and asked why I will let you all know there answer.

I appreciate your efforts but living here I come across it weekly. It depends on what courier they use. Some will quote stupid money because it has to come either by air or sea. If they used Royal Mail or one of the budget then your right, otherwise it depends.
