TD4 Problems

I have a 2002, TD4 freelander, over the past couple of weeks the Alternator LED comes on for about 20 seconds whilst driving and then disappears, this happens randomnly. My local Landrover dealer has changed the alternator twice but this problem still persists

ANY IDEAS?

ALSO

Yesterday out of the blue, whislt driving a strange rattly/ wind type noise appeared whilst accelerating ,

again the delaer can't find anything wrong apart from a loose hose, which was tightened.

Can any one shed any light on the above issues

Hi there, the same fault with the light coming on has just started with my TD4. Trouble is, today it was on for about 4 miles and then, after, reving it up, it went off and is charging/working normally. I took it home and cleaned all the connections so fingers crossed.

Let me know if you ever resolve the fault - I'll let you know if I find it.

Not the drivebelt slipping is it?

hi steve, is the alternator charging when the red light is on? if it is the i would not be to worried it would be a fault with the diode in the alternator,i think. i had a similar problem on a ford escort,drove it for 2 years like it with no probs.tim.
