Hi all,

I have a TD4 and am just wondering what other people are getting fuel economy wise.
The reason being i was getting 35-37MPG back in November, the fuel pump went and was changed by landrover now my economy has dropped to 33-32!
Landrover say its due to the weather but im not convinced.

Appreciate any thoughts and comments.

Thanks

I usually get 400-450 on a full tank right through until the light comes on...13gallon tank equates to approx 31-35mpg.
No EGR mod or anything on mine - its as clean as a whistle, I just treat her to a shot of millers every fill up.
I drive mostly to work which consists of 5miles through town then 10miles on a main road twice daily...i did notice I ovtained about 37-38mpg last week while on a motorway run! HTH.

Low temperatures make a significant difference to fuel consumption, especially so if you do short journeys. Starting at lower temperatures requires more energy to be put into the engine and other mechanical part to raise them to the working level. Oil viscosity increases with cold (even though it is claimed they are viscostatic are far from it) so more work is required to shear them in bearings, cylinders, gears etc.
I reckon I get a 3-4 mpg reduction as it gets colder, and haven't checked over this seriously cold spell.

I get about 50-60 miles less on a tank compared to milder times of the year. I've just put it down to the cold weather (heater in full blast, rear window demister, slower speeds, lights always on, lower gears etc)
