How many threads do you need ?

the thing is you need to take the hub apart just to get the new one on but I have thought if they could be cut so you can get it over the drive shaft then tack it together after as the wife's need doing but it is not a mot fail but just cut it off before hand so there are no sharpe parts

Just cut the old one of and leave it at that.
As Mike said. The hub needs to be broken down and so simply isn't worth the effort.
