Wife lost power in her 2001 TD4 last Thursday, engine light on, stopped, kicked it and it's been fine since but the engine lights still on and won't go away  kicked it again, Disconected battery, nope! bin to me mates garage who's got a fancy bit of kit, but the bloody thing keeps coming straight back on again-Got fault code P1612 (SBOS interactive codes) Googled and I'm (she) not alone?. Help anybody? or should I just burn it ?:D:D

so you found this:

freelander 2001 td4 error code - LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum

and is the return fuel line leaking ?

Yeh I did and no there are no diesel leaks (shame it did'nt get back to say what it was!!) but was very low on diesel when it happened. I have heard about the same codes popping up after changeing rear fuel tank pump!

Going to LR out here is not realy an option (unless I know what I'm on about first)

Cheers all the same for your replies!

It was low on Diesel when it conked out but not into the reserve yet, changed diesel filter, front pump is working, going to check that the one in the tank is too.

Don't be lead by the reference to fuel return leak in the link Opti posted. That code's not a diagnostic code, it comes from a list of BMW job codes.

The problem is those interactive diagnostic codes appear to be vehicle specific not just manufacturer specific. P1612 is an auto gearbox fault on a discovery 2 but can't find what it relates to an a Td4 or any other freelander.

Thanks chaser :)

I have found other incidents of td4 freelanders with the same fault code but NO solutions!!

It's running fine and if it was mine I would'nt worry about it but it's not and when the wife breaks down 1 hr from home it's my problem so would like to get it sorted!

Well if you can't find anyone who specialises in diagnostics that will scan for you then you have little choice other than to use a dealer.
