Has anyone done one - That is a convesion from the late 80's turbo diesel to the V8. If so would be interested to hear how hard it is?

Regards

Andy

Opposite was, and don't think it was too hard, so I can't see it being hard doing it the other way really.

Is that what that is?

There will be bellhousing changes needed, and the mounts will need tweaked.

Hi Andy. I am currently converting my 2.5 NA 90 to V8. Which way are you thinking of going. There are two options....

The first is you can retain the LT77 5 speed gearbox but you will need to use a adaptor plate so that the V8 will fit the bellhousing on the box. You will also need to move the engine mounts or fit extended mounts. The exhaust can be a bit fidly along with all the plumping needed for the radiator.

The other option is to do what I am doing. I purchased a B reg rangie which is V8 with a five speed long stick gearbox which fits straight into the 90. This way i can retain all the floor and tunnel section as its the same. I have cut the old engine mounts off and welded on the V8 mounts which I had. Basicly the radiator and most of the fixture and fittings I have salvaged of the rangie.

For the exhaust I found that late 300 tdi middle box and tailpipe once fitted line up spot on for the 3.5 manifolds and y piece. but I did have to extend the y piece by 4" to join it up.

Hope this is of some help.

Bryan

Thanks Bryan

If the conversion goes ahead it wont be till April so I will keep my exes open for a Rangie or someone with a v8 110 wanting to convert the other way

Cheers

Andy
