does anyone know anything about getting a series 2 replated in Portugal? It’s a 1962 model that was only registered in 1968 owing to being an MOD Vehicle until then.

Hi Khyla am here in Algarve and currently matriculating a 101 Forward Control...
Any help I can give you I will...
You can do it yourself but I would recommend an agent as iv'e done.
Where in Portugal are you moving to.
What type of Land rover ie seating/class etc.
All numbers matching on V5...
Have you or will you apply for export certificate.
Do you have residencia in Portugal.
How long have you owned it...

Hi Shippers, thanks for your help. I will be moving to Central Portugal in March 2020 and we want to apply for an export certificate so we don’t have to pay the import tax on this vehicle. We will be seeking to enter the country on along visa with a view to applying for permanent residence as soon as we can.

We acquired this vehicle (it’s in my partners name) in jan 2017 and according to her logbook, she is classified as follows:
Body type: ‘light 4x4 utility’
Taxation class: historic vehicle
Revenue weight: 3499kg gross
Cylinder capacity: 2286 cc
Fuel type: petrol
Wheelplan: 2 axle rigid body

The vin/chassis/frame no on the vehicle matches the one on the V5

There is no engine number listed in brhe log book (is this a problem?)

Apparently this is a 1961 series 2 model (as identified on her vin number) but the date of her first registration is only 03/1967 owing to having been first used by the army.

I believe we can get something called an Independent Certificate of Compliance (ICOC) if we can’t extract one from the manufacturer... do you know if this will bed seen as legit in Portugal?

Hi
A couple of questions...

Your entering on a visa to Portugal?

They will require engine number and tyre size on the V5..

COC if you can get before you leave better I got mine from Fiaal the main dealer here in the Algarve.

IMMT are the licencing authority here and they are a nightmare everything paper date wise has to be correct..

Once they give the certificate you have a matriculation inspection a more complicated mot you can then insure and drive vehicle legally untile PT reg allocated.

To sum up notify customs on arrival to get you on the system next IMMT you don't want to run out of time to import tax free remember only one car per person...

My situation is slightly different as the export cert expired in 2000 and the 101 Sat under a tree for 15yrs and wasn't in my name when I bought it here in the Algarve 2yrs ago wasted 6mnths with agents who messed me around then new agent has sorted it but it's taken 18mths and cost in total 1300€ and I'm.still waiting for one more bit of paper from customs before I can use it without the possibility of a branch of the GNR at a road check impounding it for export cert out of date.

Any questions ask away.
Rob.

Details update~
If RHD change headlamps..
Absolutely no oil on engine/gearbox or leaks from swivels.
Matriculation inspection and the equvelant MOT are not done by garages here they are controlled centres that do not do repairs...

But it's Portugal it's who you know and there's always a solution...lol

Thanks... id There an agent you can recommend? In Coimbra or Castelo Branco or guard? We also have a 1971 Bedford TK horsebox that we want to bring in (that’s one vehicle each) it’s a7.5 ton animal carrier at them no, but we want to convert it to a camper before we bring it in... do you think this is feasible, or would it be easier/cheaper bringing it in as a horsebox?

No worries. Am assuming will need a visa as entering post Brexit from UK. I assume we will also need fiscal numbers.

Brexit aside regarding visa you will have real problems regarding what you want to do...
1.To gain a Fiscal number from Finances you need an address and a Bank account in Portugal.
2.To get a Bank account you need proof of income.
You can to a certain extent get round this with a sponser who accepts responsibility regarding Finances.

1.You can't matriculate or reg a Portuguese vehicle in your name without a Fiscal number.
2.If you get a COC on Bedford and it says van that is what it must be.
3.You can not convert a horsebox to camper here it must be manufacturer approved construction.
e.g. Transit 12 seat minibus converted to camper must have all seats fitted for mot and at road checks because the number of seats are on paperwork...

Arghhhhhh!!!! Will think about this. By the way, how does one get a COC from a manufacturer that no longer exists (Bedford)? Is this where an ICOC is needed?

A COC comes with a homoligation holograph provided by manufacturer I collected mine from main dealer cost 200€ an ICOC will not have the hologhraph so will unlikely be accepted by IMMT at the matriculation inspection...in fact I recall my agent pointing to the holograph outside main dealer and saying "we've done it that is the most important part of the process getting that".
