Evening all, having a minor problem with the tail gate lock on a Disco 2.
Have previouslyhad the tail gate handle/lock stick and successfully freed up using the WD40 trick after popping the badge out.
Not so this time.
Handle is moving fine and whilst tail gate unlocked, opening and closing fine.
Once locked, the lock will not pop up with either key fob or central locking/unlocking button.
When unlocked, will only lock with key fob and not central lock button.
Any ideas before I start pulling things apart?
The car unlocked fine in the morning, 5 mile journey driven with all doors locked. Got to destination and refused to unlock without me climbing into the back andusing inner door handle.
Cheers.

The problem with all the D2 latches is that they can go faulty with the usual symptoms of them being able to lock from the central locking but not unlock unless you use the internal handle on the inside of the door. Once it's been opened that once you can use it as normal until you lock the vehicle again.
Sadly, the only successful fix is replacement of the latch unit.
Some people have said that they have been able to change the faulty motor inside the latch, but frankly after trying to get into one once, I gave it up as a bad job and bought a new one.

I'm sure when I googled the problem someone mentioned having to reset the locking system with a computer but I could have dreamt it?

I've changed a couple of door latches and apart from being a PITA it's a fairly straightforward job. There's no need to reset anything with a computer or a code reader when the replacement latch is fitted.
Be aware that each door has its own door latch to fit, they're not interchangeable between doors.
