to save a huge search which i am poo at can someone tell me where there is a switched live in the engine bay that i can tap into for my heat exchanger ?

pre electronic wizardry -fuel stop solenoid wire could be used to trigger a suitable relay with fused battery feed

Early fuel stop solenoid as pictured above if not you have later black one.
If early a ring terminal added to fuel stop solenoid will provide a trigger wire for relay.

You could consider alternator battery light wire, but it may cause battery light to glow dimly (used it to power my heated grips relay on bike while under warranty)
