I have a LWB and want to fit a SWB hardtop so it leaves me with a small area at the rear of the tub. A bit like a crew cab but only a 2 door version. Has this been done by anyone or does anyone know if it is possible or am l just a little insane?????!! :D

Yeah if you fit a 90 back to a 110 you'll have to fir it to the back or the door won't go on. then you'll need a truck cab for drivers section leaving a gap in the middle

Oh! Its just when l have been looking at hardtops with the side windows on ebay it looks like you can just remove the roof and rear cab section and then fit the swb so the swb hardtop roof replaces the lwb cab roof, the side windows would then act as windows for the rear bench seat l planned on fitting. What l am trying to achieve is having enough seats at the front for myself, wife and 2 children but still have an area at the rear that provides a pick up style bed. Maybe l should abandon that idea and just get a lwb hardtop. Am l creating a lot of work for myself do you think?

I'm going to have a measure up non the less, l'm not convinced it can not be done. Maybe no one has ever thought or wanted to do it???

surely its only really a case of fabricating a lower back panel and door frame and then adapting a rear door to fit. but having done that it seems to me that getting access into the rear seat is going to be a problem.... either means climbing over the front seats or leaving the open rear empty so the door will open.....might be better to flog it and buy a station wagon or a 5 door disco.

I know what you are trying to do. I know someone with a defender the same. He has a 90 but the back door is in the middle of the bed and then he has a tailgate on it as well. It looks amazing. You have to lower the tailgate to open the rear door though.

that sounds a bit like one I've seen running about round near me but tis a disco cut off just behind rear doors then the tub of a depender attached so as tis a disco double cab pick up now ano u lot is finkin what an abortion but he's done a real pro job on it and it looks quiet good next time he stands still ling enough I'll try get some piccys was finkin o doin same ma self tbh

Are you talking about a kingcab conversion, like the one done in one of the mags few months back? Possibly quite a few... LRO or LRM, the beast was called rivits if memory serves me correctly.
