Hey all,

Have been trying to find answers online, but not really got anywhere so far.
So I picked up a new sunroof motor, as part of my conversion from manual to electric. Plugged it all in, with the loom and the ECU. It works perfectly when not fitted, but once in it's a bit strange. The first press of the switch will tilt it, the second opens it all the way - great. Then hold down the other button to close, and it won't go back past the tilt? I have to manually turn it a little bit, then press the switch and it will close fully. Any ideas what this could be? It's like motor doesn't have enough power to get the sunroof back down over the little lump it sits on when tilted...

Rather odd!

Cheers,
Stephen

Seems that the large plastic cog isn't correctly lined with the micro switch and in syndication with the sunroof glass position.
There's a round indent on the plastic cog that should be inline with a black dot on the motors casing.
Lineup both marks and install the motor with the sunroof fully closed and the glass should then open fully as it dose now and then close back to the tilt position and then drop down to close with one continuous press of your close button.

Thanks discool, I thought it might have been alignment - have you got a decent picture of what it should look like? The one I found wasn't very clear so I may have gotten it wrong... The thing is when it's not fitted it does spin for longer, without stopping...
Was a bit frustrating, as with every job I suppose, it never is quite as straightforward as it seems!

Cheers,
Stephen

Yeah I don't know what I was doing last weekend but checked it was all lined up again, and now it's working fine haha! Quite slow/noisy though, not sure if thats normal?

The other thing is, the second motor I have for the rear, the micro switch on it is knackered - anyone know where I can source a replacement one from? Rather than have to buy a whole new motor! Think it said it was a Cherry DB9 but I've tried looking and although I can find plenty of Cherry microswitches I can't seem to find one that says DB9, so no idea what the right one would be...

Cheers,
Stephen

I think you have mentioned greasing the track and drive cables if not the white spray grease works well., you will find the sunroof open/ Close quicker with the engine running.
For the miniature micro switch Maplin have them also RS if you have an account.

Oh really? Why does the engine running affect it?
Great cheers - yeah I had checked on both those sites, I just didn't have a clue which was the correct one!

Thanks,
Stephen

Depending on what battery u have fitted of course, but a battery needs all the assistance it can get with the electrical load that the sunroofs take from it, and therefore the only way that will happen is from the alternator while the engine is running and which can be seen by the sunroof speed when I n operation, to some extent it's the same with the electric windows.
