:(in last 8 months, head gaskets done, crankshaft sensor, cam sensor, new ht leads + new plugs, new cats, new water pump, new radiator and now the b*tch is running like a bag of spanners:eek::eek: have today had her plugged in at main stealers (£75)to be told no faults showing.but they do accept she is running rough!!!
was advised on the qt to unplug maf sensor for run home (25 miles)to see if it made any differance.NONE AT ALL
was told try spraying wd40 around inlet manifold to see if tickover increased.NOTHING AT ALL
was told if above fails it is either the maf giving off false readings or else it would be the engine coolant sensor failing and running to cold:doh:
where do i go now or should i just bury her into the ground and walk away?:violent::rolly:

send it round, i'll sort it!!!

did the car run with the maf unplugged? if it did theres yer answer. did they monitor the maf and lambdas?

hi gav,yes all was checked out and car started with maf unplugged and had to allow it time to adjust the tickover itself.then drove car home but the running is still as rough and this made no differance.Mainstealer did tell me engine timings are all running high as if running on full choke, which makes him think she is taking in to much air and pushing through extra fuel to compensate.

there are figures for the maf somewhere on the forum, recent post i think.

what were the fuel trims?

did they bother to test exhaust gasses?

i dont think a temp sensor is expensive have a look on island 4x4, i think its on top of intake manifold on the gems engine.

what were the reading from the lambdas, if ones gone and is stuck at lean then it'll throw fuel in!!!

its a simple fix but its finding the fault. i don't think a burial is needed

i think that the coolant sensor is about £20 so that will be next to change.
exhaust gasses were not checked nor were lambdas as was advised that no faults were showing so this led him to believe that possible false readings from maf sensor could cause my problem.
However they were prepared to take her in for investigation obviousley at further expence.
I have found that they will give you very little information directly and are looking to do all themselves.
will go and settle the head and take a fresh look at her over the weekend..
I love her really, but would never tell her that:lvlove-158:

you need to know those figures, go see an independant!
major problem there,as i live in a rural part of ireland,so no local indy,s only a main stealer 25 miles away who will tell you sod all but is only to willing to take her in.....will start with coolant sensor as it is cheapest option and work my way through the old girl....:):)
see what a good nights sleep can do,i am not even swearing at her:D:D

well i use an elm 327 off ebay and a program called easy obd.

its good enough to get engine codes/read live data. got it off ebay for 35 quid. mines a 96 4.0

can't guarantee it will work for you but i have had good results!
