typical, my fall back landrover has died on me before I can get my TD5 back on the road. Before I get underneath thought I would ask the hive mind what the problem might be.
Driving home last night there was a bang like snapping a halfshaft or diff wind up releasing. The truck was stuck in gear and there was no resistence on the clutch pedal to change gear so drove home in third.
A) clutchplate and flywheel are obviously ok or I wouldnt have drive,
B) not a halfshaft for same reason and the y clutch pedal.
C) cant be splines from gearbox for same reason
My thoughts are that either the thrust bearing has gone or the clutch selector fork has broken or slipped off its position.
Clutch was replaced in october last year so only had four months use.

Any ideas guys

Quite possibly the pivot or slave push rod worn through on the release arm if it wasn't changed with the clutch.
That would be my first guess, although when this happened to mine my clutch became solid with no movement at all as the pivot had jammed.
I would always recommend you replace the arm with an HD one (or weld on your won plate) when you replace the clutch, the are very cheap parts but a real pain to take everything apart again when they fail.
