Driving the other day and the old girl was good as gold. Anyway after about say 15minutes When i come to a total stop and then select first and go to put away i put my foot on the throttle and it takes a while to catch up its as if the revs are so low its trying to pick up revs to get the engine going. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? As soon as im moving the things drives perfectly.

Also on acceleration i get a funny jingle sort of noise (sounds like a rattle snake) after about 5minutes of driving but as soon as i lift off the throttle or just sit on tick over no noise at all?

Any ideas would be most welcome and thanks in advance guys

well firstly im sure you know which engine you got, but without telling us it will be hard to help, just off to fetch crystal ball and see if that helps:rolleyes:

Fuel filter, fuel lift pump, injectors?

Does it rev up once it gets going or does it struggle? How does it cope with accelleration and hills and stuff when it is going?

It's a 2.5 na so it's not the best at hills but in 4th its fine! It revs fine drives fine as soon as I get rolling it's just the innitial pulling away

Thinking fuel starvation

Any problems starting after it's been sitting a while?

Might be any of:

- lift pump (personal favourite)
- fuel filter
- Air in fuel lines

No issues at all it sits for a week or 2 every time before using. Good as gold! But just after 15min.

So I think a fault with them and not just idle adjust? When you say lift pump as in it's not pulled up or needs replacing

Do you think the two are related? I mean, the noise only happens when its playing up throttle wise, or could they be separate problems?

Does the jingle/rattle snake happen when the thrittle is working fine?

It does sound like two separate issues then.

I think with the throttle issue, I'm thinking the same as station house, more specifically the lift pump. It does sound like fuel starvation. It just seems odd that the problem only occurs at low revs, but then works fine when the revs pick up. I'm sure if the filter was blocked or air was getting into the fuel line you'd have problems at high revs before you get problems at low revs.

Re the jingle; Is the noise predictable on accelaration? I mean, can you specifically get the noise if you try to? have you checked your UJs?

Pretty much yes after about 10min driving as soon as I push the throttle it sstarters but only when moving if I rev standing still there's no rattle.

Sounds stupid but does this mean new lift pump?
