Hi guys, Im a little new to this Land Rover game, so bear with me!

I own a Land Rover Series 3 SWB 2.25 petrol. (1982).

The problem is when driving along at say 30 or 40, and you take your foot off the pedals and let it "run on" occasionaly you hear a "putt putt putt" noise from what sounds like the exhaust.. Its certainly coming from up front, thats for sure. However, Ive checked the exhaust over, all is okay. I also have a new dizzy, rotor arm, condenser etc etc. Its done this ever since I had it, really stange. Im paranoid it may lead onto the explosive back fires I had a month ago ( hence the new dizzy).

Yet it made this odd "putt putt putt" nosie before all this.

Any ideas what this exactly?

All advice is welcome!

Hehe ;) Mines been going for a while now, had an almost complete rebuild, the engine is sweet as, its the rest of the Land Rover that makes the odd noises.. :) Although most of this will be solved when I fit some new parabolics and shocks. :)

So, any other suggestions? The exhaust seems fine. :)

Had this problem with mine this last couple of months. Turns out fuel mixture was too weak. Gradually increased it 1/4 turn until the popping disappeared altogether.

May be is, may be not but I was have something similar last year...

When you decrise speed all transmision goes (by inertion) litle bit to front of the wehicle (if it's not properly attached - in my case) and when you take out power from engine transmition and motor pull to front a litle and move WHOLE exhausting sistem with them to front and change the sound.....
