Strange Hazard

Have 1991 Defebnder 110. Replaced Hazard lighting swith for a second hand one as lugs gone. Looks identical and fine, same number of pins, same part number. Only when turned off it operates all the ignition lights such as happens when I turn the key! Any suggestions

First off, Is it possible that the connector block can have been fitted the wrong way around?

If not it sounds like the switch is fooked. Does it smell burnt?

The old square shape vauxhall cavaliers would bring the ignition on if you turned the plug on the back over. Unfortunately the little oiks who were nicking em knew about it too.

Swapped the lugs off the second hand one on to the old one and all fine now thanks!
