My range rover p38 started missing,at first i thought it was ignition leads.I found out it was bad fuel in the tank causing the problem.My car had been standing before i bought it and after doing a bit of research on line it seems lead free petrol is a mixture of 10% or more of ethanol,this is where the problem is.When it is left in your tank over time ethanol attracts water and as the fuel ages it turns acidic,which in turn transform into a thick sticky tar like gunk in your fuel tank.I have cleaned my tank and replaced the fuel pump for a second time,but after starting my car after all this work it seems like it has got through to the injectors because it is still running rough.So now i,m going to have to take out the injectors and test them.So be warned about leaving your car ,bike ,boat ect with the type of fuel in.

I gave my tank a wipe with thinners when i had a similar problem, injector cleaner may help.
hi tomcat yes done all that my tank is ok ,but the the bad fuel has already got through to my injectors,going to remove them and test them on the bench to see what i,ve got,may be able to let them soak in injector cleaner to free the off ,if not it looks like new injectors.I gave my tank a wipe with thinners when i had a similar problem, injector cleaner may help.

Modern petrol is crap if left for any length of time. If you have any garden machinery ALWAYS drain it before stowing for winter. This stuff can eat alloy parts if left to stand for long periods. Diesel is getting the same way with all the crap they put in it eating seals Etc. But not quite as bad as unleaded which is pretty toxic.

I was trying to resurrect an old nitro car last night. The fuel had pretty much turned into gel. Not good for the carb and none was getting to the combustion chamber. Once I'd cleaned it out and got it running the shed quickly filled up with very nasty smoke that left my throat burning for hours. Cured it with beer.

even makes ugly women look pretty when you drink enough of it,problem is by then brewers droop has set in.Beer cures all known diseases and some unknown ones as well.
