Sticky brake pedal

Does anyone know the cause of the brake pedal catching and after applying a bit more force, then starts working.

Its a bit scarey on the approach to roundabouts and when in traffic as you think you got no breaks.

ABS does not cut in and the light does not come on the dash so no problem there.

As a precaution I fitted new discs all round and pads, still no joy.

I also get a feeling the breaks are still on when pulling away like you've left the handbrake on, this does not happen all the time though.

Is it a faulty master cylinder, are the calipers sticking...........?

When I changed the pads I had the calipers off and gave them a good clean and the cylinders moved well.

Help anyone ....:doh:

Brake modulator-been done to death on here, you can get a rebuild kit
 
Right I still have the repair manual that came with the kit, scratched to buggery-but it still loads all 81.1mb of it

Local garage to me. Hes not fazed by anything, although the instructions are very comprehensive ( idiots guide ). all done, no bill yet but the fuse box has thrown in the towel as well :doh: so just waiting for a replacement to show up.

Hi how are you getting on with your BRM repair Ive just ordered mine direct from OZ as the chap from Rover-Rennovations is not selling it anymore, just a little concerned I'm wasting my money.

You say your fuse box has gone belly up? Is that due to the repair or a seperate issue cheers Vince [email protected]
 
All fitted and working fine, fuse box was a coincidence as was my cruise control pipes splitting a day later !:)
 
Well i bought a spare modulator for 35 quid,and fitted the bmr kit to it before swapping out the original unit on the vehicle.
If you did that you would save a fair bit on garage labour,but only if your confident in doing the job.
Just swapping out the old modulator and putting in the replacement,only took me less than 2 hours first time i ever did it.
Then its the bleeding process,which may take a few times to get all the air out.
I just took my time at home not in a rush,and had it done in a day and a bit.
But i have done a few brake bleeds to get a perfect pedal feel since.
And i used a 3 quid easy bleed kit,by myself with no problems.
