I have a 200 tdi disco with the stereo just in front of the gearstick.
When i bought the vehicle someone had replaced the original stereo with a cd player.
Now i have no real problem with a CD player, my problem is that it does not fit in the original hole, it protrudes from the top. Is there any after-market attchments to buy so that you cant see the sides of the stereo.
Or is there somewhere i can pick up a radio that fits cheap?
any idea's

mine does the same. im looking on ebay for an original basic radio. cheap!

Most radios are the same size as yella says its probably the cables or even an adaptor cable with large plugs on it, you will need to tick it up into the centre console next the the gear leavers

well been trying to hide wires today, but due to the amount of sodding wires on the back of the stereo its proving a little harder than thought, they dont allow much room to try and hide the wires.

I've had this problem and tucking the wires away doesn't help in my case.

I've also installed rear speakers (although the wiring was already present in my case) and have a fairly bulky inline suppressor and an in-line fuse. I suspect the plug on the back of the radio is bigger than anyone at Land Rover ever envisaged it might be.

The solution, which I've yet to do, will be to cut a rectangle of thick MDF to fit over the radio aperture, glue and screw that in from the back and then cut a DIN sized slot in that for the radio (and cradle) to fit through.

That should give me the extra centimetre or so clearance I need and when filled and sanded to blend in with the console, I reckon a lick of paint which is a close match to the centre console plastic will hide things nicely.

An added bonus is that both my wife and I are tall and find the radio just that bit too far away to reach easily when driving and this might help a little...well alright a very little..!!!

As I also want to make a centre console armrest/cubby box in MDF to finish off the back of the console, so I'll be repainting the entire thing. Just got to find a place that can mix up a satin aerosol in a good colour match (some Halfords do...not my local branch unfortunately).

Cheers,

Malcolm

finally! after a load of messing round got my stereo to fit, now at last dont need to look at the side of it whilst driving:D
