A long time ago I had an old rover and it had steering wheel controls and if I remember rightly if I pressed the centre part of the buttons it would mute what ever I was listening to . Anyway while surfing the web I came across this ,do you think it would work on a Freelander? If I remember the buttons on mine only have two wires a red and white

Some early Freelander's had 3 buttons on the wheel controls, my 2001 V6 ES does. I think it dependents if a Philips 770 HU is fitted. The centre button changes the mode on the Philip's HU when fitted to a FL1. A Rover wheel switch won't fit the wheel.

Thank you Nodge I wonder if it was only fitted to the Philips hu weather the centre button would work on anything else

It will on an aftermarket HU with a suitable adapter.

It won't do anything on any other OE HU, except the Philips R770. ;)
